If you want this tool to detect whether the power is off or on, I find it satisfactory. If you intend to use it to determine which cable is powered by multiple, you may be disappointed. The sensitivity of this tool is high for safety reasons, but too sensitive to identify individual wires in electrical boxes or multiple Romex conductors or other cables. On a recent use, when I was fixing the wiring of a janitor's three-position switch, I couldn't tell which wire was getting power from the attendant switch and which was the lamp load. Even slowly approaching each wire/circuit did not help identify the individual wire with actual power. I had to use a meter to detect the wire that is live and not the ones that have induced voltage. I've had other performance issues where the hobbyist miswired the outlets, sometimes putting the black power cord in the neutral slot of the 120V outlet. In those cases, about 50% of the outlets showed power on all circuits - not helpful. Certainly a safe tool for measuring performance, but not a substitute for more sophisticated measuring devices.
