I got this for two runners to be used on my hardwood floor. Both 2.5' wide, both 3/4" thick (so, fairly heavy) ; one 8' and one 4'. I was so amazed at the grippiness that I said "holy crap!" aloud, upon stepping and wiggling around on the rug with the pad. I have dogs who like to do their rolling around on the rugs, and am so far still impressed! Fair warning, shake the pad out and prepare the vacuum, because it sheds little bits everywhere upon first receiving it. But once it's down, there's nothing to worry about. I would also advise to let it air out for a bit. Cuts easily with scissors if needed. Not sure how this would do with thinner runners. I've used carpet tape and other grippy rug pads for runners, but this absolutely takes the cake.Will update if it does any damage to the wood floors, but so far so good!
