There are no instructions on how to open the handle to insert batteries and there are no buttons or anything to open the handle for any purpose other than closing it while standing or in your hands use. Finally managed to open the handle in the only spot that seemed right and insert the batteries. After opening the obvious battery compartment and being careful NOT to break the handle, I installed the batteries and am now ready to use this loop. Hope he sticks together. Almost sent back because it seemed like we couldn't open it no matter how carefully we tried. But after over 20 minutes of seemingly impossible fumbling, he finally let go and opened up. And after opening it, it looks like it's working fine now.
