This is my first magnifying glass so I have no comparison. I also use it to look at fountain pen nibs. Pros: Slightly increased. Gives me a clear picture of the pen tip. I can see if the pen has any problems that I can fix. Light is very helpful. Poorly. Maybe not the prettiest design I've seen, but I was looking for value and functionality. If there's one thing I have to complain about, it's that the LED is too bright for the shiny metal I'm looking at. Not really a bug, just an observation. Adjustable light would have made it much nicer. This is a simple magnifying glass. This allows me to do what I need to do. Very functional, inexpensive, durable and well made. I am very happy with my purchase.
