These erasers are awesome! I tend to get a little OCD from stains, especially in our newly renovated bathroom, so I don't use one to touch up a stain. So far they haven't damaged anything, and sometimes I can rub a stain on drywall until it comes off. They remove dirt stains very well, as well as toothpaste and other unwanted stains. There were several large stains of dirt on the stair wall in our house due to my mother having trouble walking down the stairs and holding on to the wall and washing after about five minutes (which only happened after months of ignoring the problem). until the wall went all black) the wall looked new again and the color was nice and light. I've used it on tile, painted drywall (matte and gloss), matte plumbing, bathtubs, glass shower doors, toilet and vinyl floor tiles. I tried using it on old hair dye stains on the wood sink and door but it didn't seem to help. I see it working when the stains are fresh, but not when they've been there a while or when the material is too porous. That being said, I don't think there are many things they don't care about.
