Review on Finnex Stingray Aquarium Light 20 Inch by Michele Smith

Perfect fit for my aquarium

I have been looking for light sources for planted aquariums for a long time and this one has turned out to be perfect for my needs. I have a 36" mount on a 22 gallon rimless Aquamaxx in the photos (from Marinedepot.com). I'm aiming for a low-tech, low-light tank (no CO2 injection). Pros: - Ideal for aquariums less than 20 inches high, it achieves around 30 PAR at 24 inches deep in the water (in low light). My aquarium is just under 12 inches, so I'm probably getting around 40 PAR (medium low light). All of the plants I've chosen do well in medium to low light. Keep that in mind when choosing this light. If you want high light plants, they need to be close to the light (short tank or tall substrate). - very thin profile, very light - multiple mounting options, there are clips for a rimless tank, or you can hang it over the tank with other plastic parts - the light it emits appears from very white to bluish white (see photo) . It makes everything look sharp and crisp, I especially love it when it's on in the dark. Some people may need more natural light, e.g. B. the warm color of daylight, other more expensive lamps can offer you this if you prefer. Cons: - If you want a warm light, choose a more expensive light that you can customize. Wavelength included, no dimming, no timer function, but it's easy to solve by buying a plug-in timer. The plants seem to be responding well to this chart even though it's only been 3 days but I can already see new growth and they look very green.

Pros
  • True RED LED light source with high color rendering index 660nm
Cons
  • Negative result available
