This filter was great. The water tastes good and the filter lasts a long time. We have 2 fridges and one is a bit older. The older one has water and ice in the door but no filtration system. Generally we had tap water in the fridge. This was a good and simple solution to this problem. All I had to do was cut the lead and insert it into each end of the filter. I prefer to flush it before connecting both ends. This will remove and release the parts in the filter. If you decide to do this, make sure you have a bucket of water.
