This doorstop looks like a solid construction that is not likely to break, but can be used with a door that is only 3/16" off the floor (but no more than about 9/ 16"). The rubber piece is quite hard (a bit harder than an eraser) but probably suitable for prolonged wear. The construction is a steel post on the back that goes through the rubber insert and screws into the doorstop body to absorb the force of bouncing doors, with a screw in the front to secure and align the stopper - requires a hole in the floor and subtray larger than the screw-only design (1/4" diameter and 1 3/16" However, this seems like a reasonable compromise in favor of a secure grip.On the underside you can see that the doorstop's body is made from some type of metal (probably zinc alloy ation) exists. But the one I received warrants at most two stars because the threaded hole in the casting is not drilled straight so the steel post was not perpendicular to the doorstop body when screwed in. The photos show that the post itself is straight, but will be skewed once fitted into the doorstop. This makes it nearly impossible to install a doorstop, and also makes it impossible to drill a hole in the floor for the shelf at the right angle and orientation. (Note that even with a straight post installation would be much easier if the blister card or insert included a template as it is not possible to mark the position of the post when the doorstop body is seated on the ground.)
