It grabs about 95% of the litter that our two cats manage to kick out of the litter pan. The 5% is in the area that the mat doesn’t reach- not the mat’s fault- our cats are pretty good at burying their stuff, so they manage to kick the litter pretty far sometimes. The litter caught in the mat cleans up easily- just keep in mind that both ends are open, so pick it up carefully. I dropped the litter back into the litter pan with no problem.I think our cats basically don’t care one way or the other about the mat. I never see them go into the box, so I don’t know if they are walking on it or jumping over it, but I suspect they are walking on it, as there is no litter on the floor in the area they would be walking beyond the mat.All-in-all, a great purchase. Well made, good quality, and gets the job done. I might buy another one to expand the reach.
