Works with stubborn lids, can pierce the rim of the lid
I've had several jar openers but none of them worked with a particularly stubborn jam jar. Those tins that had a lid that looked like an old-fashioned stone jar. I decided to try this "master opener" as it seemed to clamp tighter and provide more leverage. It worked, but it took two attempts. Both attempts left small cuts on the edge of the glass lid. It was worth it, because small cuts on the edge of the lid are better than throwing away or breaking the glass.
