I haven't been this happy with a gadget in a long time. It's amazing how small it is but strong enough to be more than a novelty. It takes some courage and experience to set it up, especially if you dare to mess around with the BIOS settings. So all my years of building custom PCs are paying off. At first I thought I needed some drivers to reinstall Windows 10 and was frustrated that I couldn't find anything online. Then it turned out that most people could reinstall Windows 10 without special drivers. All I need is a clean reinstall of Windows 10 directly from Microsoft Media Creation Tool plus Windows Update and Intel's "Driver and Support Assistant" to ensure all Intel chipset and device drivers are up to date . One thing I found was that I had to make sure the audio device was set to UAA (Universal Architecture Audio) then Windows 10 would automatically find all the correct drivers. Enter BIOS (DEL at preboot) and then under Chipset:South Cluster:HD-Audio:Audio DSP Compliance make sure UAA is selected. That was all I had to do for Windows 10 to automatically pick up the correct drivers. Another thing I noticed from other reviews are complaints about the fan not turning on or cycling on and off. Personally, I like to always leave the fan on, so I found that you can do this by going into the BIOS, under ACPI: Smart Fan: and setting it to Disable so that the fan is always on regardless of the temperature. Otherwise, I prefer to set the temperature so that the fan turns on at lower temperatures so that the device still stays cool. Of course it's better than a passive device, and I usually blow them with external fans anyway. Yes, to ensure the fan works with Windows 10 you need to ensure that the Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (DPTF) drivers are installed correctly. Intel's "Driver and Support Assistant" should detect this and update it, but if it doesn't, the worst case scenario is asking the vendor to send you those drivers.
