works better for me than what is usually sold in the form of elbow pads. Typically, elbow pads are simple, smaller knee pads. These are different. I use them for rollerblading. Elbow-to-ground contact is rare and usually not that strong. So heavy protection isn't required, but comfort is required, and it's nice for the pads to stay in place (regular elbow pads don't do this; they seem to stay in place better). Basically, they're comfortable and offer important padding right at the elbow point. They're durable enough to offer protection from any common (even extreme) inline skating accident (40 mph or less I'm guessing). I would wish for more to protect the wrists or knees, but for the elbows it's more than enough. This is the best I've seen (in terms of comfort) for use as elbow pads while roller skating. Good freedom of movement and protection at the elbow tip.
