I was very hesitant to buy it after reading some of the negative reviews. But first let me say it worked great for me. I know many of the reviewers below say they have experience with homemade hair dye. But remember, many yellow-haired women walking through Walmart in slippers are also very adept at doing terrible work with hair color at home, and they think it looks great. I feel really comfortable saying that I have experience with homemade hair dye. I've been coloring my hair at home since I was 13. My natural hair color is dark ash blonde/borderline very light chestnut like a mouse. Most home dyes for blonde hair will turn this hair color into a bright orange. Before Olia, they were the only people who could turn my hair a beautiful blonde by toasting it with bleach. I would like to point out that women who dye their hair red, brown or black feel no offense, but it takes a lot more skill and better hair dye to go from brown to a beautiful blonde. But this color worked great. In terms of texture, my hair is naturally a bit rough and dry. I am one of those people who can wash their hair every other day and not every day. When I heard that Olia was oil based I decided to give it a try. I used two colors because I always add light and dark shades to my hair (it looks more natural, classy and flattering). For highlights I chose Olia 9 1/2 .1, the lightest ash blonde. I use a bowl with two separate sides (one for each color) rather than the bottles that actually come with this hair dye. So I can't comment on how easy or difficult it is to hold the bottle throughout the application process. Thought I should report this because some of the reviews below mention that they are hard to resist. I don't use gloves either. I have to use my fingers to feel which parts of my hair are colored and which aren't. I applied two colors in increments of 0.5 to 1 cm and let it sit for about 25 minutes. I sat under a hair dryer on low heat for about five minutes after walking around the house and completing some chores. I washed it off well in the shower and then washed away the remaining color with Clairol's Shimmery Light Blonde & Silver Shampoo. I used the genuine Olia conditioner that came with the paint and I thought it smelled great. I left it for three minutes. When I washed it out my hair was soft and silky. As always, after the shower I applied some organic silk and wrapped my damp hair in a towel for 30 minutes to let it rest. Then I dried them with a hair dryer and rolled them on the curling iron as usual. My photo below shows the results and I am very happy. My hair doesn't smell like I just dyed it, and more importantly, it doesn't look like I just dyed it, but it does look like I just dyed it. It's a win-win situation! To me, the pros far outweigh the negative comments below. Got a very beautiful color that really made my hair soft and was very affordable and comfortable. Negative comments about gloves and bottles should not influence your decision to try this. I have already reordered both of these colors to be ready when my roots start to regenerate. I hope they never stop making this hair color.
