Review on Smith Serpico ChromaPop Polarized Sunglasses by Sean Flint

Revainrating 5 out of 5

These are my new glasses.

I bought myself a present for Father's Day. Let's start with the fact that I have a big round head. So most of the sunglasses pressed against my temples or looked a bit small on my face. Another issue was that I was never happy with the lens coating. The sun is either rising or setting. I love the classic aviator style and don't like any of the Oakley offerings. Their prism lenses were very expensive and the 6 and 8 gauge models looked cheap. So I decided to try them with Smith's Chromapop which is similar to the Oakley prism. The Smiths are perfect. They stay put no matter what. I use them as everyday/driving goggles. I love the chromapop effect on a sunny day. However, it might be too much on a cloudy day, but then I probably don't need sunglasses. The large lenses provide excellent coverage and look great on my large round head. The only problem is they didn't come with a case, but that doesn't bother me. I returned an pair of Oakley Gauge 6 glasses after buying these glasses, so I'm buying a case with the $100 saved :) I like them so much I'm tempted to buy a second pair of glasses as a replacement.

Pros
  • Frame shape: Aviator
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
