Review on Kaytee First Home Habitat 12 Inch by Erin Renee

I ordered two of these cages because one day my gerbils decided they didn't want to get along anymore. I originally had them in a large 3 platform rat house from Kaytee and they loved it and didn't gnaw through the plastic platforms like their first cage so I wanted something like that. This is exactly the same design, only shorter/smaller and with a platform. The base is great because it's so deep they don't throw away as much litter as they would in a hamster cage so they can dig to their heart's content. I could do without the hole for the feeding bowl because the bowl is a bit too big for them (they prefer to sit in their big bowl when eating, which I don't want). Both cells, like the larger one, arrived with problems; actually the same problems. Some of the cage bars had to be bent into position a bit, which was fine, but the main issue for both is the latches. The wire ties attaching the bars to the bottom of the cage were wrong; One snaps and holds properly on the base and bars, but the other side is too loose and needs to be flexed just enough for it to work. this is harder to do with latch wire. Also, the cages are in order and the gerbils are frolicking about happily and no longer trying to kill each other.
