My SONY Sony Grand WEGA KF-50WE610 rear projection TV The 50 inch HDTV capable LCD rear projection TV suddenly started turning off and on every minute or so. I didn't know what the problem was and was worried that after 7 years of using this TV I would have to buy a new TV. The idea of getting a new LCD TV sounded good, but I didn't want to throw this TV away. So I googled, searched the internet and was told it was most likely a lamp. I was skeptical because my TV had a red flashing light a few years ago when it had a burned out bulb, but this time I didn't think it was because it was still running for a minute or two when I turned it on. on the. So after a few days I decided to order a lamp and see if it would help - it turned out to be a lamp. The old lamp came on but went out every minute due to wear and tear. I'm glad I have the lamp, it works great and my TV is now as bright as new (it will dim a bit over time as the lamp wears out). Don't waste your money on an original SONY TV - it's not made by SONY anyway (made by Philips) and won't improve the looks of your TV for the extra $100 you spend on it.
