I think it's in the interest of IKEA style wordless instructions that they undermined their product. Here's what I think happened when I tried to reset the code: I set the combo to the preset 0000, then inserted the special reset tool and rotated it, then entered the new code, then rotated the tool back. Then I tried to use a lock and it didn't work. Then I realized that although I thought I rotated the tool "60 degrees" like the instructions say, I may not have rotated it enough. So I reinserted the tool and rotated a little more and it clicked, and at that point I believe the combo reset to the number that was in the combo window at that moment - not the number I entered have, and not the factory setting. Since I was trying to get it to work, I have no idea what numbers ended up on this thing back then. So now there is no way to get it working and no way to reset it. Because for reasons of "simplicity" the instruction "turn back 60 degrees until it clicks" is omitted in the instructions. Now I have an unusable product that I have to return. Good job Kensington!
