I use these insect lamps because I have drain flies in my house. They came through the garage door where I keep my trash. Anyway I love this style as you can put it on the floor or on a table/counter and it has a slim profile. Lamps can be easily replaced and not much energy is required. I have one in the garage and one in the kitchen. When it started raining for the first time this season a few months ago I had TONS of flying ants all around me. They fly near the light and die there. However, for some reason they did not try to come to light. This leads to drain flies, midges, gnats and moths. After installing this in the house for a few weeks I can say that the mesh and the noise on it is STRONG. It's MUCH louder than the other one I had and this one always seems to turn off while the other, which looks VERY similar to this one, is quiet and always clean. So my point is that just because they look the same they don't work the same. This one does. If the dead flies don't fall on the bottom tray, check the light on the table or on the ground around it. They are all here! Update: after only 1 month of use the top bulb died so I need to replace that one. Lights attract flies. The grid electrocutes them so that it still burns with only one lightbulb.
