Was very happy to use them on my boat project where most of the bottoms are 1/2" plywood. At first I thought they were very cheap and worried about durability but thought I'd give it a try. Without a template to install them, figuring out where to drill the hole if not already is a bit of a guess. Once installed, the bolts are too short and don't even try to clamp the top bracket onto the 1/2" plywood. I did try to get it to work though. I cut off part of the bottom bracket and turned it. so I get the screws in, at least try. After installing it, I'm pretty sure that no matter how many of these latches I use, they won't keep my panel closed and secure if I use it for the platform too my pedestal seat.I gave it 2 stars because I'm sure they will keep the sunroof closed while being used as a simple storage cover.If its thickness is much less than 1/2".
