I do a lot of work at night and the big light is too much for hubby. This is perfect. I even like the keys lit in the day time. You can choose from several colors for the backlight. I charged the keyboard and plugged in the USB adapter to the computer and the mouse and keyboard started working immediately. I think the instruction book could be a slight more detailed as I saw how to turn on the keyboard the first day but I haven't been able to find it in the booklet ever since or how to turn it off. But after a few minutes of not using, it shuts down and the mouse shuts down but the minute you touch the keyboard or mouse it comes right back on. I wear keyboards out very quickly so I'm hoping this one will last a long time.
