Cold shoe mounts may not fit some accessories/lights, but the overall grip allows for more flexibility

This is a pretty good kit that can be used in many different configurations to mount many different cameras, phones and other accessories through the standard ¼ inch tripod mounting holes and a pair of cold shoe mounts. Everything looks solidly built and not flimsy at all. I love that you can use some or all of the parts however you like to suit your specific needs. phones including cases. I have a Moto g6 Play and am using a Unicorn Beetle case (similar to Otterbox) and am having a hard time getting it out of the case. So it's nice to be able to use this setting when my phone is still in my pocket. As good as this grip is, there are some areas for improvement. First and foremost, the cold shoe mounts don't fit some of my flashlights. I have a few basic lights that seem to be fairly common, so I think a lot of people might run into this problem. Either the metal on the cold shoe mounts seems too thick or it goes too far and is preventing me from attaching the lights. I haven't experienced this issue with other cold shoe mounts, including the ones I've used to shoot with a Sony RX100 ii camera. I had another flashlight that fits these cold shoe mounts so your mileage may vary here. I am attaching a picture of both the bracket that doesn't fit and the detachable element that comes with the other bracket that does fit. The image containing the lantern itself is not suitable. Another issue I have with this grip, albeit a small one, is that I would like it to include some sort of GoPro camera mounting hardware. Yes, it comes with a set of attachments with ¼" mounting screws and I can get an adapter between it and the GoPro mount, but it would be nice to have a few included. After all, two mobile phone holders are included. And while you can fit a GoPro into one of these, I'd prefer something more secure (I'd say definitely don't use a GoPro spring clip, unless you're putting the whole thing on a tripod and holding it. Other phone clip drags firmly so he can hold it a bit more securely.) Also, a small tripod or two would be a nice addition, but that would also add to the price, so I understand they aren't included. In addition, the dense foam insert is too dense. Of course, I probably won't completely disassemble after every use, so I'm still not sure how often I'll be using the insert and box.

Pros
  • The frame kit is also a great choice to support a second or third camera in professional studio setups. However, it can be mounted on a cart or ANY tripod for a great handheld shooting experience.
Cons
  • to blunt
