So I've been waiting for prices to come down and bugs to be fixed for years. Everyone said it's best to have a Garmin. So I took the plunge. When I got it from Revain the first thing I did was update the firmware and maps. Now it's time for some road testing, so I took it to work one morning. My office is 30 minutes away, about 12 miles. He kept telling me to turn in the exact opposite direction until I reach a certain intersection and from there he correctly directed me until I got to my office. away, but take me there. My normal route is much more direct (less throttle, faster) and I've programmed it to be the "fastest" route. It takes an hour to get to my brother's house on the freeway, and I decided to see how the device behaves in freeway traffic. .It was far away! He kept wanting me to turn in the opposite direction. This gave me some really confusing directions until I was a few miles from my destination. Then he seemed to know where I was going! I loaded the latest maps on my device but it's a good thing it was just testing because this thing would make me want to drive god knows how long it takes to get to my destination and when I'm in arrived at my office I would do it completely LOST as he was pointing me in the exact opposite direction. All I can say is if you're lost but are only a few miles from your destination, this thing will likely get you there, but don't count on it. For trips over 10 miles you'd better have a real map if you don't know the roads. While I can't contact Garmin to complain about my issue (I can't comment on customer service yet), my opinion of the product isn't very good. I suspect this device will do better in some areas and not so well in others, depending on the quality of the maps in that area. So if you live in Prince George, Howard, or Montgomery counties in Maryland, you're going to be pretty much lost with this thing unless there's a patch Garmin can find. ix. At the moment I cannot recommend this device. So far it has proven useless. If calling Garmin solves my issues I'll update this review, but for now it was wasted money :( EDIT UPDATE: I understand what's going on now. The device is working properly. It's guiding me on the same route (avoiding highways) and googlemap to force me to turn back as I can't turn back on this road. Also when I look at the google map I can see that Garmin is actually taking the shortest route for me. I've noticed that my way is longer, and i haven't even i know there is a better way, the route my garmin is taking me (exactly the same as on google map) is almost a straight line to my destination! hate to drive. Up to 4 stars. The reason he doesn't get 5 stars is because he uses a "where am I" locator! He doesn't know my house number (real street) and gives my current location a few blocks away an oh from ih m! So I wait until I reach the road he knows outside of my area, then everything will be fine. Next week I'm going to try the Garmin (and Google) suggested route to work, which is great because I don't even know I could take that route. So taking my words back to my original review, I love this device and I think I can now trust it to get me where I want to go.
