Bought these shoes a week before my trip to Europe. I know you should have a long break-in period and I didn't have any. Although sometimes I'm lucky that I took them. I just took that and a pair of sneakers and only wore the sneakers once. These shoes fit very well even with a bunion on one foot and walking at least 8 miles every day. I love the zipless style which makes it a lot easier to manage airports, dark hotel rooms and busy hands. They were light enough that I didn't feel like I was lifting any extra weight, but strong enough to withstand a downpour in Florence. Be a little dressier for nicer restaurants and more formal settings. I hate looking like a complete tourist all the time. These shoes have a bit of European flair and have always been on point. I ended up wearing them with socks, tight-fitting and even barefoot. Cozy. I have orthotics that I put in. However, on one occasion they seemed to hit my arch too high after a long walk, so I took them off and didn't put them back on. I really didn't need them. work and for general use only. I've found that although I almost never use a shoehorn, for some reason it helps my foot be more comfortable in these shoes. I paid a little less for them when I bought them from Revain so I'm particularly happy with them.
