I've been searching the market for a CAC reader for a while and the main reason I chose this one was the company's brand. HID is the world leader in access card systems, so I knew I could have confidence in the quality and ease of use of this reader. The general build quality is pretty good. The main part that holds your CAC card while in use is made of plastic, while the cable is made of regular rubber or plastic like other cables. The inserted CAC card actually sticks out at the corners, which does not always prevent regular use of the product. I use this product with Mac OS and as you can see from the pictures the system has no problem showing the reader and identifying the actual company. It has a blue light to indicate connection and flashes when the CAC card is accessed.
