Bought this starter for Craftsman Rider LTX1000 with Kohler 18hp. The original starter had a protective cover held in place by two mounting bolts. To be able to reuse the protection. I had to use two washers to separate the guard from the two stud bushings on the starter. Without the washers, the protective cover rests against the starter gear. I could push the guard back, but it would leave a gap. Grass clippings can penetrate the starter gear through the gap. In my opinion this starter is remarkable for the money.
