I used it as an additional heat source for my 40 gallon snake housing. It staved off the odd smell one would normally expect from new heaters, but it was stronger than usual. After about a week of use it started making this weird buzzing sound like it had been shorted out. The radiant warmer kept turning on and off and I was afraid it would burst so I took it out for the safety of my snake. I believe this is the socket that went bad as I've tried multiple sockets without resolving the issue. Tried other bulbs and it still caused problems so buyers should beware. The top of the cage also gets too hot for reptiles to touch. My snake loves to climb and almost got burned trying to climb on it. **NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CLIMBERS WHO CAN REACH THE CAGE**
