overall it was easy to assemble and use. The cord is long enough (in my case) and an extension cord is not needed. The length of the vacuum is suitable for our 55 gallon aquarium. Those are pluses for me. The problem I had was the suction power itself. I was hoping it would be a little stronger. There is no sand or gravel in our aquarium, so I was sure it would be much easier to pick up leftover food from the bottom of the fish, but not really. The suction is not strong enough and you have to tap and tap the bottom until some food is sucked. Most of it just swirled around with the movement of the water but wasn't picked up by this vacuum cleaner. I will keep looking for something better. This cleaner can be used for a small fish tank if I have one in the future.
