Review on πŸ–₯️ Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2, 14" FHD Display, Intel Core i3 1115G4, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel UHD Graphics, Windows 10 Pro, 20TA000ART by Putri Cantika ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Satisfied with the purchase one hundred percent, I recommend the product for everyone.

I bought modification 20TA0027RT - the cheapest configuration among those that come with an Intel i5-1135G7 processor, without Windows installed. Do not be afraid of models without an operating system: Windows 10 downloads ates and installs 100% of the drivers itself with Lenovo's proprietary package, which goes like "lenovo system ate" or "system firmware". There are no dances with the search and installation of branded applications in the correct sequence. An important difference between ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 laptops with Intel and AMD processors: these lines differ significantly not only in processors. Laptops with Intel support Thunderbolt 4 interface, which allows you to connect external discrete graphics cards (eGPU) and docking stations with additional expansion ports, including 3 external monitors, ethernet network, external charging - all this goes to the laptop via a single Thunderbolt cable. In models with AMD processors, there is no Thunderbolt, but there is a dual-channel RAM mode (part of it is soldered on the laptop and the second part is installed in the slot). In versions of the laptop for India and other poor countries, a very poor TN matrix can be installed, but in 2022 I got a tolerable AHVA, albeit with a poor color reproduction of 45% NTSC. There is a keyboard backlight in my model 20TA0027RT, there are 2 modes: with moderate brightness and with high brightness. The laptop is terribly easily soiled: prints remain with any touch on the lid, touchpad, buttons, generally everywhere - for me this is the main minus. To imagine the scale of the problem, consider the entire surface of the laptop as a mirror. It is quiet in operation, and in the absence of load it is generally silent. The branded power supply is as bulky, thick and inconvenient as possible: it is not pushed into every bag. It’s better to immediately buy a modern compact 65-watt power supply from Ugreen, Beseus or another manufacturer - they are thin and light, plus they have additional connectors for charging smartphones and tablets in parallel with a laptop. I recommend the laptop, for its price - fire.

Pros
  • Expandable (unsoldered) RAM, two SSD slots, fast charging, physical shutter on the webcam, comfortable and quiet keyboard, sturdy (feels like) case, Thunderbolt 4 (only in the version with an Intel processor), good driver support from the manufacturer .
Cons
  • Extremely easily soiled case - every touch leaves an imprint. Poor screen color reproduction (45% NTSC or 63% sRGB, matrix B140HAN04.0 from AUO). Weak microphone: with the default settings, the sound is barely audible, and after dancing with the Windows settings, it is caught more or less tolerably, but it is still desirable to speak loudly and lean towards the screen. For comparison, a Logitech webcam quietly picks up a conversation from the opposite corner of the room.
