I'm just trying to connect my Samsung 960 EVO NVMe M.2 to one of my computer's USB3 ports. It should be easy - I've been doing it with all kinds of SSDs for years. Apparently PCIe NVMe M.2 drives are different? My setup is below. See attached picture.
