This light is very bright, perfect for a taillight, another white light version will do as a headlight at lower speeds. 160 lumens isn't much when you're driving over 10 km/h. But hey, for $15 this flashlight is a great deal! Although it is very bright for a taillight, its maximum range of visibility is 180 degrees or less. It's not as good as the Vis 180 in terms of lighting and movement, which has lenses to project light evenly in all directions rather than mostly just behind it like this one, and it also has bright sidelights to help prevent side impacts. However, the Vis 180 is around $40, half the price, and is still very bright, just not as good at right angles. Overall this is a great product for the price. Many people don't use tail light, if you don't have one and drive on the street please spend $15 on your life. While this may be lower than other products I've used, for $30 you have a headlight and taillight that work. If you're looking to spend $200 on a lightweight rig, you can have an 800 (vs. 160) lumen headlamp that lets you cruise down a hill at 40mph in good visibility, and a 220-degree taillight in the rear . If you're willing to spend that kind of money check out the Light and Motion website, the headlight is particularly top notch. Otherwise, the smart purchase is also great! However, I am not talking about the version with headlights, I have not tried it.
