I'm surprised that some of the reviews don't point to a specific issue. The indentations on either side of the linkage assembly (i.e. on the front and back of the door) where you need to place your fingers to open and/or close the door are smooth, very sloping sides and fairly shallow, making gripping very difficult makes on the door to pull it inattentively and very carefully, otherwise fingers will slip out. Alternatively, the hook on the locking mechanism must be pulled out to grab it. Not very handy unless that's all you want to be aware of when entering and exiting a door, as opening and closing a door doesn't usually require special attention. It's a really awkward way to open and close a door. with daily use even several times a day. This was installed on the pocket door for the bathroom in the master bedroom. I'd like to see straight, non-beveled edges on the finger well, maybe with a rim that makes it easier to grab the door to slide it in. in any direction. Wouldn't buy again. Now that it's installed, there's not much to do.
