When we remodeled our kitchen and installed a Miele dishwasher, I ran the first load without the Jet Dry. The dishes were wet and didn't look good and I stood there missing my old Kenmmore. I called the seller and he said that dishwashers that don't "bake" dishes dry with a heating element need Jet Dry to keep the layers of water out and a regular low temperature drying cycle to keep them dry. I was skeptical, but I tried Jet Dry and the dishes came out dry (hey, maybe that's why they're called Jet Dry!) and sparkling clean with no stains. I'm not sure if there is even another brand of this material. it's like the Kleenex of douches. Just pop some in the door dispenser (next to the detergent drawer) every month or two and you're done. If you don't have a dishwasher with a dispenser, they also sell Jet Dry in a solid form that you hang on a rack in the dishwasher - usually enough to last a couple of months. Excellent product, highly recommended.
