Good lock, not suitable for mortise holes. You will need a wood chisel to install the bezel which is 1 inch longer.

Extra work and it's stupid. Elson's shotgun is not in the same location as the old cast iron American style mortise locks. So you have to pry the door open. The strike plate is also heavily tightened. You'll also need to hollow out the slab 1/2 inch longer plus a dome on both ends and deeper. You will need some carpentry skills to make this lock work. Then you must use their shiny brass plates. So if you try to keep the original patina you will not succeed. Then, at the end, the vacuuming began.
