Review on πŸ“Ά Astatic (302-PDC2) Black SWR/RF/Field Strength Test Meter: High Accuracy for Optimal Signal Performance by Laura Adams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great (with a little tweaking)

I found the SWR to be good for my HF setup and was close to what my antenna tuner was putting out. The wattmeter was off A LOT - binding the meter when running at full power. I opened the case and noticed that the trims for the power meter were all set to the same value (hmmm). Plugged it in with the back and started trimming the 100 watt potentiometer (closest to the ANT connector). Within range, adjust it to match the radio output. The meter now scales well from 10W to 100W. I also had to adjust the potentiometer to 10 watts. It was displayed as 10 watts slightly higher than the actual power. Now all I have to do is buy non-slip feet for it from Lowe's and it will make a nice addition to the cabin. Don't ground it and ruin your radio. Use iterative pot adjustments to bring the gauge to specification. I take no responsibility if you're stupid enough to stick a screwdriver in an open case and try to make changes on the fly and end up smoking your meter, your radio, or both.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Sad unit
