I decided to free up some space in my case and removed a 3.5" hard drive case that I wasn't using. energy source. The mounting hardware in this kit works as expected and holds the two discs well with little play between the discs. Since the drives were now much closer together, I decided to use the included Y adapter plug to power the drives from the 4-pin connector. When I turned the computer back on, there was a brief flash and then nothing. I opened the case up again to check it out and noticed that the smell of fried electronics was coming from the two drives. I reconnected them via SATA power cables but nothing works now. THIS ADAPTER BURNT TWO OF MY SSD DRIVES. (Crucial 256GB and Samsung EVO 850 500GB). DO NOT USE THE SUPPLIED ADAPTER. This thing has cost me hundreds of dollars and countless files.
