User friendly. Despite the criticism, I've found I can make good, smooth, true to size, and accurate dowels. For more than 3/8, use an appropriate ratchet socket (sold separately) (17mm is ideal for a 1/2" square shank). I can insert 3/8 right into my drill bit - makes extracting it from the die even easier. I would highly recommend this to people - TOGETHER - a table saw for cutting squares and a set of deep socket wrenches for larger squares. . Or a drill press. Take that and [basically] stop using screws! Fasten everything with special dowels. Update: This is an amazing way to make dowels. Good technique/use of other tools is required to prepare the dowels. But WOW, this is changing woodworking for me! Order dowels from any tree!
