I like that it can be used as an operating system, not just for Raspberry Pi projects or home automation applications such as lighting control systems or security cameras but also with other IoT devices (such as Nest thermostats). It's quite nice to work in this type of environment without needing any additional software tools/drivers - everything you need should already come preloaded in Raspbian! The fact there are so many different programs available makes things difficult at times when trying to figure out what needs doing next; however if one knows exactly which program will help them solve their problem then they do really get value from using it overall. We use it primarily because we have had very good success running our own web servers off it along side all manner of sensors and actuators to create automated services via APIs. This has been particularly useful where previously we would only run simple scripts manually every week etc.
