As far as I can tell without advanced chemical analysis, this is the exact same DryCaddy that comes in the can. The benefit is that I don't have to buy a new can every time I need a couple of new drives. That means less waste going to landfill, which is a good thing. The discs themselves are invaluable for keeping my hearing aids dry and in good condition. This is particularly important here in the hot and mostly humid south. If I need a new glass, I take the package that comes with it. But every time I get it.
