I rarely write anything less than glowing reviews but I must let the customer know of my experience. I liked this item for holding my smartphone while cycling. The only flaw was that it didn't hold position as it slowly rotated into an unreadable position due to bike vibration on smooth, paved bike paths. This wasn't a huge problem as on a bike it's not a problem to set it up if you want to read the screen. Just a minor annoyance that I would have given 4 stars instead of 5 until it broke. I purchased this mount 8 months ago in October 2013, of which I did not ride for 4 months (December to March) due to the bad weather in Pittsburgh. Region. During my trip last weekend in June 2014, after only 4 months of use, the holder broke and my smartphone fell on the street. I picked it up and saw that the plastic was broken where the ball attached to the base of the mount. This is a design issue that should be fixed in the next production version of this product. I love the concept of this mount and how easy it is to attach and remove the smartphone, so I removed all the fixings, threw them away, disassembled the mount itself and drilled holes in the bottom of the case. Then I installed the nylon wire ties, assembled the body and attached the holder directly to the rods with nylon ties. It is now 100% secure, held securely in the correct position for screen reading and will never break. If I were to buy this product new I would tie it to my phone to keep the phone from falling off the bike and falling if the mount breaks. be damaged or lost. It's a shame to risk a few hundred dollars of smartphone for a $15 mount, no matter how good the idea. The next design should offer a base that attaches with zip ties, like many bike accessories, in addition to the original ball and socket.
