Have tried other more expensive brands and was disappointed with performance. This product is well made and very easy to detach for cleaning. Some other brands have small holes through which the grist enters the cup. Many chips remain inside the package. This one is slim and leans slightly forward over the sink and pats the back slightly. Loops inside the case will fall out. In addition, the main cutting blades can be easily removed to rid this area of abrasive cuts. I use a regular 12 cup filter coffee maker. Like strong black coffee. Set it to level 8 and a medium grind. It came out exactly as I had hoped. I use a stainless steel measuring spoon to grind coffee. Always 5 stacks for the perfect 12 cup machine, beautiful and durable. This one on setting 8 was the perfect 5 bunch loops. Bought a 2nd for storage at this great price.
