Review on Fiebings Prime Neatsfoot Compound Gallon by Maria Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great to serve the Iron Lung.

'Iron Lung', also known as a 'tank respirator' or 'negative pressure ventilator', was used by polio victims who could not breathe on their own. It is STILL the best tool for those who need to use a ventilator at night to prevent lung volume shrinkage. It reduces bedsores by more than 50%. Sputum aspiration is much less likely because there is no mask to stop it. And the ever-changing pressure on the body helps keep the digestive system healthy. The pressure inside is altered by a motor that moves a leather diaphragm that will last for decades if lubricated with oil. The one my wife sleeps in (due to a very bad form of muscular dystrophy) was made in 1953 and she has been using it since 1978 with no major overhaul.

Pros
  • Tack Care & Storage
Cons
  • A newer model
