I brought 2 wires. 1 for me and 1 for my brother. Both worked straight away with no problems. I've used cables on my iPhone 10x max and iPad 2018 with no issues. Plugged right out of the box and it worked right away. I've used it for phone mirroring, YouTube testing and also on a 'special' movie site on my iPhone and iPad. Worked great. Movies were 1080p. that's wires max. I haven't tried it because Wire said mirroring doesn't work on major streaming services, so I didn't try it. I don't use it anyway lol. I will come back in the future for an updated review.
