I bought this to cut and replace my headset cord. worked fine

I don't know if it matters or not, but there are 3 conductors and 1 shield, the shield is connected to normal ground (2nd ring). what is probably normal and okay; It wasn't what I expected, but I was able to tin and solder all the wires and the repair went fine.
