This *is* a powered USB hub and currently performs much better than Kingwin front bay USB hubs. I bought this to replace the USB/SATA ports in the OEM top front case. Somehow one of the case's USB ports melted from having the USB stick plugged in all night. Two USB/SATA ports and electronics are likely to have compromised integrity now. After connecting the Rosewill device, all USB ports seem to work fine with USB2/USB3 flash drives along with the keyboard attached. I haven't checked the port speeds, but I assume that they are likely to operate at the appropriate USB2/USB3 speeds. I haven't tested the SATA port either.
