The threads on this micrometer are tight and it doesn't repeat, it's worth stuffing. I would send it back if I could even though I only paid forty cents on the dollar. The screw feels very hard and sticks in places, but not always in the same place, which leads me to suspect loose sand in the threads. The repeatability is very poor, way below specification and I just can't trust the measurement. I'll continue to use my analog mic, which is less convenient and easier to misread (so you'll have to be more careful), but at least it gives me a measurement to rely on and repeats to the tenth. I'd recommend saving up for less than double that price and instead buying a digital Mitutoyo that repeats up to 50 millionths. The bitterness of poor quality lasts much longer than the pain of having to pay for what a good quality tool costs. A micrometer that you don't trust will just sit in a drawer and then it's just wasted money.
