Review on Dorman 741-950 Front Driver Side Power Window Motor and Regulator Assembly for Honda Models – Black by Sam Hawj

Perfect fit for 1997 CRV

I have a 1997 Honda CRV and the driver's side power window started to fail. It had trouble closing, often stopping about halfway. Then I would have to raise the glass manually - not ideal. I solved this problem by removing the door panel and spraying liberally with wd-40 on all moving parts. It didn't help at all. At that point I just grabbed Revain and ordered a new window regulator for $60 + $10 with same day shipping. It wasn't worth my time wasting further troubleshooting. Regardless, it was a tired 20 year old power window so I decided to just replace it. I received the controller the very next day. For me, one of the roller arms broke off the track. It was annoying but easy enough to fix. The end of the rail channel is bent down to prevent the rollers from coming out of the rail. I just used a long straight screwdriver to bend it and reinstall the pulley. After this was done, it took about 20 minutes. Now the window works better than I ever remembered. The instructions that came with it basically said "unscrew the old, screw on the new". One trick is to use masking tape to hold the glass up (closed) after unscrewing it from the old adjuster. There are plenty of videos on YouTube if you're nervous about doing it yourself, but it's actually as easy as other reviewers say. The hardest part of the job was keeping the gooey vapor barrier from getting on everything (tip: don't get it in your arm hair).
