Review on ❄️ Seal Out the Cold with Frost King Self Stick Weatherseal D Section by Carl Morgan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Thick and durable for building materials

This is a kind of reinforced sealant. Replaced a styrofoam strip that was over 5 years old and had mostly detached from the garage door. It's definitely a lot stronger and I'm sure it will last longer, although I had some issues with it sticking to one side. You need to make sure the frame you apply it to is COMPLETELY clean. Any residue, rough wood, etc. will prevent it from sticking as well. I had to scrape mine carefully with a razor to remove any glue/foam residue first. The only problem I have is that it doesn't compress as much as I would like. This should obviously fill big gaps, they could probably have the same effect with thinner rubber and a larger center hole, allowing for more compression. Most of my gap is on the side where the doorknob is, in fact at one point it's so big I can still feel a slight cold breeze through the air gap between it and my door, probably 1/16th of an inch. However, it compresses so much that I can barely close and latch the door on that side. I have power locks that used to be able to lock themselves as if I were locking the door with one hand. I have to pull/push with quite a bit of body weight just to engage the latch. I used the top of the door with a foam gasket because it doesn't compress into anything and works almost as well (tried it first but not very well). Honestly this was a quick fix to a major problem we were having with one of our doors in the middle of winter. This spring I'm going to rip a piece of wood off a door (looks like the doors are already cracked, I couldn't get this piece of wood off without breaking it - so I went that route) and carved a new piece. The wood is straight and fits snugly against the door. A foam strip will probably be attached afterwards, but this will probably not be necessary if the fit is good. To be honest if you have a large enough gap that you are considering this or a thicker version you can fix the door frame/jam to make it tighter on your door to begin with. Another useful use for this is Windows. . The locking problem is not that severe on the window I found. I have fairly new windows, some have fallen off the bottom of the bearing seal. This worked great in the center channel on the underside and really helped seal it up nicely. I might consider buying more of these to replace all my windows.
