I have used this product before but it was packaged in disposable envelopes. That bulky packaging makes measuring out the right dose a bit more difficult, but it's easy if you have a kitchen scale. My scale has both ounces (oz.) and grams (g.) on the dial. The dezcal label says 3.5 ounces or 100g should be used for 1/2 gallon = 4 pints (64 ounces). My coffee maker's carafe holds about three pints, or 48 ounces, of water. So, 3 pints / 4 pints = 0.75; therefore 0.75 x 100 g = 75 g of Descal crystals per 3 liters of water. (If your scale doesn't have grams on the dial, then .75 x 3.5 ounces = 2.625 ounces, so you need a little over 2.5 ounces. The label also says 1/2 gallon, or 2 liters. There's so some wiggle room 0.5 gallons = 1.89 liters Be sure to stir the crystals thoroughly in the water to dissolve them before pouring the mixture into the coffee maker.
