I was super impressed; no light gets through this curtain at all. But it does go around it.Since the curtains ship as a package of two skinnier pieces, it seems as though they're meant to be used together on the same window (which I have to do anyway, since one isn't large enough). With that in mind, some way to seal the middle, like magnets, would have been nice. Sun otherwise peeks through the little cracks.It also peaks just barely over the top of the curtain. I've got the curtain rod as high as I can against the ceiling, but there's just that little bit of space. This could have been solved by having a bit of extra material above the rod pocket.Still, those are very minor issues to an otherwise amazing curtain. There is actually more light coming in from around my bedroom door than my window now, even when the california sun is directly facing the window. I no longer have to cover my eyes when sleeping. I heartily recommend this curtain to any day sleepers looking for a solution to the sun problem. And if you're crafty, you could probably solve the above two minor problems yourself (I myself am temporarily using clips until I can get magnets added to the curtain).I have the grey coloured curtain, and have not tried any colours. I can't say whether or not the other colours work just as well. I also cannot speak for any thermal or noise regulation. There's just too many other sources for both for the curtain to make any real difference.
