Noise can be corrected.

I'm a radio amateur. I have read reviews from other radio amateurs regarding the noise generated by this power supply. But for the price I still decided to give it a try. Of course, PS produces hash and tone spikes on all ranges. However, after some research and measurements I was able to get rid of most if not all of the noise and the like. First and foremost, the DC mass floats. It is not connected to AC ground. This is normal, but a major source of noise. To give the PS an RF path to ground I attached two 0.1uF caps. One from DC+ to AC ground and the other from DC to AC ground. Second, the case is connected to AC ground. Again, this is fine, but the case must be connected to your station's RF ground. Third: I used twisted pair to power my setup and amp. I'm not sure if it helped, but it might hurt. I'm still checking, but as I said, most if not all of the noise has been eliminated. If so, this is a good power supply for $29 and the price of two capacitors. PS I found the fan a bit noisy when the amp (100W) was running at full power. The amp ran at full power for about 15 minutes. The transistors for switching on the power supply did not even get warm. So I modified the power supply and put a 50 ohm 10 watt resistor in series with the fan. The fan now runs at half speed when the amp is running at full power and the power supply is much quieter.

Pros
  • High-quality switching power supply, stable 12 V output, protects your electronic products from being destroyed
Cons
  • Not the best
